Hockey Tripped Up By Denver, 4-3

ANCHAORAGE, Alaska - Denver's Jon Foster netted two goals, including the game winner as the Pioneers defeated Boston College, 4-3, before 3,909 fans in the first round of the Nye Frontier Classic, hosted by the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
Denver (1-0-0) began the scoring when Matt Weber netted a power-play goal from Ryan Caldwell and Foster at 1:29 of the first period. Boston College quickly tied the score at 1-1 when freshman Dave Spina converted an Ales Dolinar pass in front of the net for a power-play goal. Jeff Giuliano was also credited with an assist.
BC (1-1-0) took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission when Giuliano poked in a rebound of a Ben Eaves shot at 12:27.
Denver tied the game in the second period as Foster took a feed from Chris Paradise just 58 seconds into the stanza. The Pioneers took the lead for good at 12:27 of the second when Lukas Dora slid a shot in from Aaron MacKenzie.
Foster extended Denver's lead to 4-2 when he tallied his second goal of the game from MacKenzie at 1:42 of the third period.
Eaves brought the Eagles within one goal at the 15:32 mark of the third when he scored on a feed through the crease from Tony Voce on the power play. J.D. Forrest also was credited with an assist on the goal.
Freshman Matti Kaltiainen had 21 saves in the loss, while Denver's Wade Dubielwicz stopped 25 Eagle shots.
Boston College will play Alaska-Anchorage in the second round of the Nye Frontier Classic on Saturday, October 13 in a 7 p.m. (11 p.m. EDT)contest.
