Hockey Chosen Third In HOCKEY EAST Preseason Poll

BOSTON - Boston College was chosen third in the HOCKEY EAST Preseason Coaches Poll, released today at the annual league media day at Legends Restaurant at the FleetCenter. The Eagles received three of the possible nine first-place votes. Providence was selected first, followed by Maine and Boston College.
Providence edged out Maine for the top spot without receiving any first-place votes. Maine garnered four first-place votes, while New Hampshire and Boston University each received one. The Wildcats followed BC in the poll in fourth place, followed by the Terriers in fifth place. UMass-Lowell, Northeastern, Merrimack and UMass-Amherst rounded out the poll.
Last season, Boston College rolled through the conference regular season with a 17-5-2 record, en route to an overall 33-8-2 record. The Eagles won the Beanpot, HOCKEY EAST regular season, HOCKEY EAST Tournament and NCAA Tournament in 2000-01.
The Eagles will kick off the 2001-02 season on Saturday, Oct. 6 when the team travels to Burlington, Vt. to face Vermont in a 7 p.m. contest.
