Hockey's Kobasew Earns Rookie Of The Week Honors

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College forward Chuck Kobasew (Osoyoos, British Columbia) earned HOCKEY EAST Rookie of the Week honors for the week ending Jan 7. It is the third time the freshman has captured the honor. He was also selected for the weeks ending Nov. 5 and Nov. 27.
Kobasew scored one power-play goal and tallied one assist at Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 6, in the first game of a weekend home and home series against the Terriers. BU would win the game 3-2. The following night he assisted on the Eagles' first goal in a 5-2 victory over the Terriers.
Through 20 games this season Kobasew leads all BC freshman in scoring with 24 points - 11 goals and 13 assists. He ranks third on the team in scoring. He also boasts four game-winning goals, and six power-play goals - both of which lead the team.
The Eagles have fared well when Kobasew scores a point. BC is 13-1 when the forward scores, and only 1-4-1 when he fails to register a point.
Among HOCKEY EAST scoring leaders, Kobasew is tied for third in conference games, and ranks fifth overall. He is the league's top freshman scorer.
Kobasew was named the HOCKEY EAST Rookie of the Month for the month of November.
The third-ranked Eagles return to action on Friday, Jan. 12th, when their take on UMass Lowell in a HOCKEY EAST matchup in Lowell, Mass. The Eagles defeated the River Hawks 6-1 on Nov. 4. Game time is 7 p.m.
