Wilkes Barre, Penn.- Two Boston College wrestlers participated in the Wilkes Open on Wed., Dec 27, and Thurs., Dec 28, hosted by Wilkes University in Wilkes Barre, Penn.
Participating in the 133-pound weight class, Rick Merritt was defeated in the first round by Nate Pozniak from Penn State in a 10-4 decision. In the first consolation round, Merritt was defeated for a second time, by Anthony Shave from Lehigh University in a 14-4 decision, ending Merritt's participation in the double elimination tournament.
In the 149-pound bracket, Mike Payack was pinned by Robert Becker from George Mason University in 3:20, in single elimination.
Boston College has yet to participate in a dual meet this year. The Eagles' overall and ECWA records stand at 0-0. The Eagles will wrestle next at Millersville University in Millersville, Penn. on Sat., Jan. 6, at 10:00 a.m
