Track And Field Competes At Husky Invitational

BOSTON, Mass-The Boston College men and women's track and field teams competed at the Husky Invitational hosted by Northeastern on Fri. Jan. 26. The men's team placed fifth out of nine teams, while the women's team took sixth out of 10 teams.
Winning the preliminary 55-meter dash, Jonathan Ordway ran a 6.34, the second best time in Eagle history. Ordway followed this performance with a 6.51 and a fourth place finish in the finals of the 55-meter. In the 200-meter run, Ordway took fourth place.
In the 400 Mark Johnson finished in sixth place and Matt Greene to 10th. Jeff Normant took second place in the 500 run. Taking sixth in the 800-meter run was Mike Krashes followed by James Mann in ninth place. In the 1,000 Mike McKenzie ran a 2:34 and took eighth place.
Winning the mile race, Justin Burdon ran a 4:17. Following Byron Gartrell finished fourth, while Vernon Mickle took fifth and Matt Kootman finished ninth. In the 5,000-meter run, Andrew Shaffer finished in fourth place.
In field events, Tony Bierne finished eighth in the shot put and fourth in the 35 pound weight throw. In the triple jump, Keith Normant finished sixth.
Taking back-to-back finishes, Zoey O'Sullivan finished in sixth place and Nikki Pogue took seventh in the preliminary 55-meter dash. In the finals, O'Sullivan finished fifth and Pogue took eighth. In the 200-meter dash, O'Sullivan finished ninth with a time of 26.39.
Winning the 400-meter run, Jenifer Vendetti ran a 58.00 and Melissa Connell followed in seventh place. In the 1,000-meter event, Lisa McIssac took fourth place. Finishing in second place in the 3,000 run Jen Kramer ran a 9:53. Following in third was Danielle Jelly and Jen Donovan took fifth. In the 55-meter high hurdles Kate Sullivan finished in sixth place.
In field events, Kate Sullivan and Katina McCrory finished in seventh and eighth place, respectively.
The Boston College men and women's track and field team will next compete on Sat. Feb. 3 at the University of Rhode Island. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. Teams participating are Rhode Island, Central Connecticut and Massachusetts-Amherst.
