Wrestling Falls to Brown And Bucknell In Dual Meet Action

Providence, RI - The Boston College wrestling team competed in a dual match Saturday at Brown University in Providence, RI. Also present at the meet were Springfield College, Bucknell University, and ECWA rival Sacred Heart. The Eagles were defeated by Bucknell by a tally of 31-12 and by Brown as well, 37-4. Their dual meet record stands at 1-5 while their ECWA record remains 0-2.
Among those Boston College wrestlers participating in the meet, Ricky Merrott defeated Bucknell's Andrew Bernstein 6-4, then was defeated by Brown's Ryan Gill by a score of 5-1. Merritt's overall record fell to 3-8 and his ECWA record remains 1-2 following the two losses. Senior captain Dan Degan was pinned by Bucknell's Dan Chunko at the 0:56 mark and defeated Todd Dewitt of Brown University by a score of 12-3. Degan's overall record is an impressive 16-7, leading the Boston College team. Senior co-captain Steve Pregiato, wrestling in the 141 pound bracket, suffered two losses on the day. He was defeated by Brandon Green of Bucknell by a score of 31-12 and by Brown's Clint Frease by a score of 5-1. Pregiato's overall record fell to 10-10 following his two losses.
The Eagles will wrestle next week on Saturday, January 27, at American International College in Springfield, Mass. The meet will begin at 10:00 A.M.
