Women's Ice Hockey Falls To Top Ranked Dartmouth

DURHAM, N.H.- Lauren Trottier scored three goals and assisted on two others as top ranked Dartmouth defeated Boston College, 8-3, in women's ice hockey action today in Durham, N.H.
Jumping to an early lead, the Big Green's Trottier scored her first goal of the night, unassisted, just 39 seconds into the game. Dartmouth went on to score two more goals in the first period. On a power play, Louise Pietrangelo scored the second goal of the contest at 6:28 and Kim McCullough scored the third goal at 7:40.
Opening the scoring for the Eagles, Jen Buckley scored at 2:06 in the second period. Assisting on the goal was Renee Taylor. Less than three minutes later, Taylor scored the Eagles' second goal at 4:42. Collecting the assist for Boston College was Gen Richardson. The Big Green's lone goal of the period was scored at 9:16 by Amy Caitlin and would later prove to be the game-winning goal. The last goal of the period was scored by Richardson and was assisted by Buckley at 18:48
Coming out of the locker room strong, Dartmouth scored four more goals. Jennifer Wiehn scored the Big Green's fifth goal of the night at 3:33. Trottier scored her second goal of the night at 7:49 followed by Correne Bredin's goal at the 14:00 mark. The last goal of the night was scored Trottier, on a short-handed goal.
In goal for the Eagles, Sharon Van Tuyl collected 49 saves in the loss. For the Big Green, Ferguson saved six in the win.
The Eagles fall to 4-17 on their season and 1-14 in the ECAC and Dartmouth improves to 14-1-1 and 12-1-1 in the league.
Boston College women's ice hockey will next play Mercyhurst in a home contest on Sat. Jan. 20 at 2:00 p.m. Despite being a home game, the Eagles will play the game at Meehan Auditorium in Providence, R.I. on the Brown University's campus.
