Women's Ice Hockey Snaps Three Game Losing Streak

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- Senior captain Jen Buckley scored the game winning goal as the Boston College women's hockey team defeated Middlebury College, 2-1, in a non-conference game, today, in Kelley Rink in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Jumping out to an early lead, Middlebury scored the opening goal of the game at 16:51 in the first period. Scoring the goal for the Panthers was Audrey Pellerin , who was assisted by Kristin Reid. The goal would prove to be the only goal of the period. The Eagles out shot the Panthers 11-8.
Coming out of the locker room strong, the Eagles rallied back and scored the tying goal just 35 seconds into the second period. Scoring her first goal of her Boston College career, Alexis Moed scored from a pass from Jaclyn Kryzack. Both Boston College's goalie Amy Coletta and Middlebury's Meghan Hutchinson had a couple of close call in goal, but both were able to make key saves for their teams. The Eagles goal would be the lone goal of the period and the two teams would head into the locker room tied at 1. The Panthers out shot Boston College 10-6 in the second period.
Remaining tied at 1-1, Buckley scored the Eagles game winning goal with just 45 second left to go in the third period. The goal was Buckley's sixth of the season and 60th of her career. Assisting the game winning goal were sophomore Carla Hess and freshman Renee Taylor. With 24 seconds remaining in the game, the Panthers pulled goalie Hutchinson for one last chance to tie the score. As time ran out the Panthers we able to only get off one shot, which was saved by Coletta.
In the game, which remained close until the end, Middlebury out shot Boston College 23-22.
In goal for the Eagles, Coletta collected 22 saves in the win. For the Panthers, Hutchinson saved 20 in 19:36.
The Eagles improve on their season to 4-16 and 1-13 in the ECAC and Middlebury falls to 7-1.
Boston College women's ice hockey will next play Dartmouth on Fri. Jan 19 at 7:00 p.m. in Hanover, N.H.
