CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball team put up a tremendous fight against non-conference opponent Harvard tonight, but in the end fell victim to the Crimson in five games 13-15, 15-10, 18-16, 6-15 and 11-15.
Freshman Jeana Boyle (Boca Raton, Fla.) tallied a triple-double for the Eagles, registering 16 kills, 33 assists and 18 digs. Sophomore Rachel Bach (Jacksonville, Fla.) recorded 20 kills in the match for the Eagles (3-9 overall). Harvard's Erin Denniston led all players in kills with 21. Mindy Jellin recorded 51 assists for the Crimson (3-3 overall).
The Eagles jumped out to an early advantage winning the first game 15-13, but Harvard responded by taking game two 15-10. Harvard was on their way to a 2-1 lead in the match when they led BC 12-5 in the third game, but the Eagles stormed back to take the game 18-16. BC was unable to close out the Crimson, though, as Harvard took game four easily, 15-6 and held off a late Eagles charge in the decisive fifth set to take the game 15-11.
Boston College's next match will be next Tuesday, Sept. 26th, when they travel across town to face off against another Boston rival, Northeastern. Match time is 7 p.m.
