Lady Eagles Compete In Unlimited Potential/Baytree Classic

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Boston College women's golf team was one of 31 teams to compete this past weekend in the Unlimited Potential/Baytree Classic at the Baytree Golf Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Baytree saw 165 lady golfers hit the links this weekend for three rounds of play - making this the largest collegiate women's golf tournament in the country. The final round of play utilized two courses at the site - the Silver Course and the Green Course.
Boston College's own Roxanne Somboonsiri shot a 240 (80-81-79) over the three days of play to finish tied for 14th in the Green Course Championship, leading the Eagles. Also competing in the Green Course Championship, Suzanne Carrazza finished 56th, firing a 268 (95-85-88), while Kerry Whalen tied for 57th place with a 269 (97-84-88) and Jennifer Mitchell came in tied for 65th place with a 275 (95-89-91). Kent State took the title on the Silver Course, finishing first overall with a 907 (303-294-310). Florida International's Michelle Simpson (79-69-74) and UNC Greensboro's Jenny Gleason (79-71-72) each led all individual scores with 222.
Overall, the Eagles finished in 30th place out of the 31 competing teams, shooting a 1045 (360-339-346). The Lady Eagles will be traveling to Hanover, N.H., next to compete in the Dartmouth College Invitational. The dates of this outing are Saturday, September 16 and Sunday, September 17.
