York, Mottau Receive Award Nominations

BOSTON - Jerry York, head coach of the Boston College hockey team, and Mike Mottau, the Hobey Baker Award winning, senior defenseman, have received nominations for College Coach and College Male Athlete of the Year from the American Cancer Society's New England Sports Awards. York is joined by Geno Auriemma (UConn Women's Basketball) and Margaret Murphy (Brown University Women's Hockey) as this year's College Coach of the Year nominees. Mottau is joined by Sean Keenan (Williams College) and Joseph Ingegneri (Saint Anselm College) as this year's College Male Athlete of the Year nominees.
The third annual New England Sports Awards - presented by Fox Sports Net - pays tribute to amateur and professional athletes for their performances during the past year. It will feature current members of the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, Boston Bruins, New England Patriots and New England Revolution, and New England collegiate players and coaches. The New England Sports Awards raises money for prostate cancer support groups, education, outreach, advocacy and research.
Each nominee was selected by a Nomination Committee comprised of members of the print, radio and TV sports media, and the public relations departments of the area's major professional teams. Awards will be presented for Pro Performances of the Year, Play of the Year and Player of the Year along with College Coach and Male and Female Athlete of the Year.
Voting to Be Done by Fans
The sports fans of New England will determine all the winners by visiting the New England Sports Awards voting pages on FOXSports.com/NewEngland and voting for their favorite play, player and performances. All the winners will be announced live, in front of thousands of fans, at the FleetCenter on June 26
