Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Freshman pitcher Kimberly Ryan has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive time, according to the league's weekly press release.
Ryan earned the honor after posting a 5-1 record last week to improve her overall mark to 10-7. She struck out 42 batters in 36 1/3 innings.
After defeating Brown on Wednesday, Ryan tossed 11 2/3 shutout innings against Harvard to pick up a pair of victories. The freshman then pitched consecutive complete-game three-hitters against Pittsburgh on Sunday, including a shutout in the first game. Ryan had 10 strikeouts in each game against the Panthers.
Ryan shared rookie honors with St. John's hurler Courtney Fitzgerald on Apr. 10. She joins Notre Dame's Andria Bledsoe as the league's only two-time Rookie of the Week honorees.
The Eagles (16-15, 5-3 BIG EAST) will be at Providence on Tuesday, April 18 before traveling to Yale on Wednesday.
