Women's Lacrosse Falls to Connecticut, 13-10

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The University of Connecticut used four goals by sophomore Heather Levins to down Boston College, 13-10, in women's lacrosse action tonight at a rainy Alumni Stadium. Connecticut improved to 8-1 with the win, while Boston College dipped to 4-7 with the loss.
Boston College opened the scoring on a tally by senior Susan Pitt. The Huskies answered three minutes later and evened the score on an Abby Morgan goal, then took the lead on the first of freshman Heather Bliss's two consecutive goals. Pitt again notched a goal, but the Huskies scored twice more to close the first half with a 5-2 lead.
Levin's first goal of the night brought the UConn advantage to 6-2 as the second half opened, but Lauren Miller scored the first of her three straight goals to bring the score to 6-3. Connecticut notched three goals in less than three minutes to extend the lead to 9-3 and scored again with 13:07 and 9:26 left to play to hold a seven-goal lead at 11-4. Miller scored the Eagle's fourth goal with 12:12 left in the game.
Miller notched her third goal with 9:09 left and ignited an Eagle rally. Junior co-captain Emily Ryan scored at 7:53 and sophomore Chrissie DeMichele and Pitt added scores to bring the score to 11-8. Junior Brooke Zwarg scored her first career goal with 5:00 remaining and DeMichele scored the Eagles' 10th goal.
Sophomore Pamela Lowie and Levins notched scores in the closing minutes to bring the final score to 13-10.
Husky goalkeeper April Pollock made nine saves in the win, while sophomore Valerie Leuchs (18 saves) and junior Melissa Cole (two saves) were in net for Boston College.
Boston College will next face Syracuse on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m. and Connecticut will host Rutgers, Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
