Eagles Travel to Duke for Invitational

Several members of the women's track team competed at the Duke Invitational hosted by Duke in Durham, N.C. on April 7-8.
The Eagles claimed four top-ten places. Individually, Senior Shannon Smith continued her strong showing from the indoor season placing second in the 3000-meter race. She ran a 9:25, which was a career-best for the team co-captain. Freshman Christina Reagan ran to a 10th-place finish in the developmental 400-meter hurdle race with a 1:05.99.
The distance medley relay team of Katie Ryan, Rachel D'Amora, Jenifer Vendetti and Cate Guiney place fourth overall (out of 23 teams), running a 11:37.70.
Kathy Fleming, one the track team's assistant coaches, also competed and ran to a seventh-place showing in the 1500-meter race.
Other Eagle competitors included: D'Amora (200 meters), Vendetti (200 meters), Ryan (1500 meters), Guiney (1500 meters), Sharon VanTuyl (1500 meters), Laura Smith (1500 meters), Nicole Portley (3000 meters), and Lisa McIsaac (3000 meters). Ryan placed 14th in the field of 44 runners.
The women's track team will next compete at Dartmouth on April 15. Selected members of the team will travel to Walnut, Calif. to compete in the Mt. Sac
