March 28, 2000 - The Boston College men's lacrosse team fell to the 16th- ranked Minutemen of UMass, 17-5, at Alumni Stadium.
The Minutemen (4-2) opened the game on fire, jumping to a quick 7-0 lead before the Eagles had even attempted a shot on goal. For the game, UMass outshot the Eagles by a 45-20 clip.
The Eagles (1-3) received solid efforts from senior Dan Hayden (Lakewood, OH) and junior James Garth (Ft. Worth, TX), who both tallied two goals. Also getting on the scoreboard for the first time this year was junior Cort Duda (Longmeadow, MA).
Under sustained pressure all night, senior goalie Tom Gallagher (Point Lookout, N.Y.) made a season-high 18 saves.
Head coach Dave Curnick and his troops hope to get back into the win column Saturday, April 1, when they travel to the University of Harford for a game at 1:00 p.m.
