Hempstead, N.Y. - The Boston College softball team continues to search for its first win of the season, falling to 0-7 after a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Hofstra.
The Eagles lost both games by the score of 2-1.
In game one of the twinbill, the Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the top of the seventh inning. Pinch-hitter Jen Asbury drew a one-out walk before being pulled for pinch-runner Anne Marie Ambros. Ambros advanced to second on a base hit by Julie Ulbrich and came home on an RBI single by freshman Cara Blumfield.
The hosts came back with two runs in the bottom of the inning, however, to steal the victory.
In the second game, Boston College came back from a one-run deficit to tie the game in the sixth. Freshman pinch-runner Allison Erbig scored the lone Eagle run. The hosts again came back with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Freshman Kimberly Ryan (0-4) took the loss in game two, scattering six hits while striking out seven. Alicia Smith struck out 13 and went 3-for-3 with the game-winning hit to lead Hofstra.
The Eagles will be back in action at the Princeton Tournament in New Jersey on March 25 and 26 before returning to Chestnut Hill for their March 28 home opener against Holy Cross.
