Gionta, Clemmensen Honored By HOCKEY EAST

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Junior forward Brian Gionta and junior goaltender Scott Clemmensen were both honored by HOCKEY EAST for their play in February, as Gionta earned the league's Player of the Month honors and Clemmensen was named Goalie of the Month.
Gionta scored 11 points in February, tallying nine goals and two assists in eight games. He registered his seventh career hat trick against New Hampshire on Feb. 20. He had three game-winning goals as the Eagles went 5-3-0.
Clemmensen was 3-1-0 in five appearances during the month, posting a 1.09 goals against average and a .957 save percentage. He recorded shutouts in three of his four starts - against Northeastern (Feb. 7), Providence (Feb. 11), and UMass-Amherst (Feb. 25). Clemmensen now holds school records for shutouts in a career (10) and in a season (five), as well as HOCKEY EAST records for career (seven) and regular-season (four) shutouts.
For the season, Gionta has 43 points - 26 goals and 17 assists - in 32 games. His 26 goals tie him for second nationally. The junior has 23 goals and 10 assists in his last 22 games dating back to November 30. Gionta is now 11th on BC's career scoring list with 165 points - 83 goals and 82 assists - in just 111 games.
Clemmensen is now 11-5-0 with a 2.12 goals against average and a .914 save percentage this season. He is also the top-ranked goaltender in HOCKEY EAST with a 2.01 GAA in 13 league contests.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, March 2 when they travel to Northeastern to face the Huskies at 7 p.m.
