CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior forward Xavier Singletary tallied 23 points and seven rebounds -- both game highs -- to lead Boston College to an 88-55 non-league win over Quinnipiac before a crowd of 3,258 at Conte Forum.
Sophomore forward Uka Agbai netted 14 points. Senior Kenny Harley contributed 11 points. Sophomore guard Troy Bell and junior forward Brian Ross each added 10 points.
The victory raised the Eagles' record to 8-0, marking the program's best start since the 1984-85 team began with a 10-0 record.
BC led 26-22 with 7:50 remaining before intermission, before closing the half with a 20-6 run to take a 46-28 advantage. Singletary scored 17 first-half points, including two three-point field goals.
The host Eagles extended their lead throughout the second half. BC led 64-34 with 12:30 left, and raised its advantage to 41 points -- 80-39 and 83-42 -- twice.
Senior Collin Charles led Quinnipiac (2-8) with 20 points.
Boston College (8-0) returns to action on Saturday, December 30, 2000 against Vanderbilt. Game time is 2 p.m. in Conte Forum.
Game Notes: Boston College finished with 10 steals, marking the fourth consecutive game (and fifth time this season) in which the Eagles have recorded 10 or more steals ... Five BC players registered double-digit point totals. BC also had five double-figure scorers in the season opener against St. Peter's.
