The Eagles Drown Bridgewater State

Bridgewater, Mass.-The Boston College men's swimming and diving team took 15 first place finishes to Bridgewater State College's one to collect their second win of the season (2-1) on Thursday, November 2, in Bridgewater, Mass. With the win the Eagles continue their winning streak against Bridgewater, winning the last nine contests.
The Eagles coming off to an early lead, won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:45.63. Sophomore Matt Baker took the first individual win for the Eagles in the 200 freestyle (1:51.09). Following in the 100 backstroke, sophomore Howard Parrington won with a time of 1:00.73. In the last event before diving sophomore Jack Beirle won the 50 freestyle (24.29).
In diving, senior captain Mike Wilt took the 1-meter diving event collecting 170.62 points. In 3-meter diving, Wilt took his second first place finish of the night, with 242.25 points.
In the 100 freestyle, the Eagles took the first two spots. Senior captain Paul Callahan finished first while senior captain Bob Foley took second. Following in the 200 backstroke Boston College took one, two , three. Sophomore Matt Barbini finished first, followed by freshman John Sourbeer and in third was senior captain Marc Manganiello.
Winning his first collegiate race, freshman Andy Naumann finished the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:22.47. Collecting his second win of the evening Beierle finished with 5:12.84 in the 500 freestyle. Senior Russell Keil added another win to the Eagles long line of first places, winning he 100 butterfly (56.39). In the 200 individual medley freshman Joey VanSaun picked up his third Boston College win with 2:13.39.
The Eagles finished the night taking first and second in the 200 freestyle relay. The lone first place finish for Bridgewaret State came in the 100 breaststroke.
The men's swimming and diving team will return to the pools in their BIG EAST opener, when they travel to Providence College on Tuesday, November 7 at 6 p.m.
