Swimming Teams Fall to Yale

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Both the men's and women's swimming teams fell for the second time in 2000, with both squads dropping meets with Ivy League foe Yale. The women's team kept the meet close and ended with a 161-139 final score, while the men mustered 50 points in a 250-50 loss.
On the women's side, Boston College took seven races. The first win of the night came in the 200 medley relay, consisting of Nina Suryouyomo, Michelle Lane, Lauren Schwartz and Alexis Kostopoulos. Lane and Schwartz led BC with two of the Eagles wins a piece. Lane took the 100 breaststroke and the 200 breaststroke in 1:06.60 and 2:24.02, respectively. Winning the 100 and 200 butterfly events, Schwartz finished with 58.7 and 2:08.8, respectively.
Suryouyomo took the first individual Eagle victory of the night, claiming the 100 backstroke in 1:00.70. Kostopoulos earned the win in the 50 freestyle in 24.58.
On the men's side, the Eagles were unable to capitalize in any races.
With the losses the women's team evens its record at 2-2, while the men fall to 3-2 on the season. Both the men's and women's teams will face Binghamton and Southern Connecticut in on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. in the Flynn Recreation Center.
