Hockey Defeats Northeastern, 6-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Senior forward Mike Lephart registered two goals and one assist and junior forward Ales Dolinar tallied a career-high four assists to lead Boston College to a 6-3 HOCKEY EAST win over Northeastern before a crowd of 7,480 fans at Kelley Rink.
The victory marked the 599th win of Boston College head coach Jerry York's career. York will seek his 600th win tomorrow night (Nov. 4) when the Eagles play at UMass-Lowell.
Boston College (6-1-0) led 3-1 after one period and extended its lead to 4-1 at 7:31 of the third period, before Northeastern rallied with two goals in 47 seconds to trim BC's lead to 4-3 with 10:07 remaining in the game. The host Eagles answered with two goals to seal the victory.
Sophomore forward Krys Kolanos gave BC a 1-0 lead at 5:23 of the opening period, and Lephart doubled the BC advantage with a power-play goal at 7:42. Northeastern's Rich Spiller cut the lead to 2-1 at 10:07, before BC junior Jeff Giuliano closed the period's scoring at 15:02.
After a scoreless second period, Gionta extended the Eagles' lead to 4-1 at 7:31. Northeastern (4-2-0) responded with two quick goals to cut the BC margin to one. Freshman forward Ryan Dudgeon tallied his second goal of the season at 9:07, and senior defenseman John Peterman netted a power-play goal at 9:53.
Lephart tallied his second goal of the night at 12:40, and freshman forward Tony Voce recorded his first collegiate goal at 16:33.
BC senior goaltender Scott Clemmensen finished with 12 saves. Northeastern junior Jason Braun made 31 stops.
