CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College forward Tony Voce (Philadelphia, PA) has earned HOCKEY EAST rookie of the week honors for the week ending Nov. 12. Voce scored two goals in the span of 1:53 to lead the Eagles to a 5-3 victory at Notre Dame on Friday, Nov. 10.
Voce's first goal at 7:07 of the second period broke a 1-1 tie and was the first of three BC goals in the period. Voce scored again less than two minutes later on a 1-on-3 rush, battling two Notre Dame defenders for the puck in the crease before poking it into the net past the Irish goaltender at 9:00 to put the Eagles ahead 3-1.
The two-point game was the first of the season for Voce, who has three goals and is part of a freshman class that has been quite productive for the Eagles so far this season (11 goals, 20 assists through 10 games). Freshman teammate Chuck Kobasew was named the Co-Rookie of the week for the week ending Nov. 4.
The Eagles (8-2-0) next travel to North Andover to take on Merrimack in a conference matchup on Friday, Nov. 17. Game time is 7 p.m. On Saturday, BC hosts New Hampshire in a 7 p.m. game at Kelley Rink.
