Kolanos named HOCKEY EAST Offensive Player of the Week

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College sophomore forward Krys Kolanos (Calgary, Alberta) has earned HOCKEY EAST offensive player of the week honors for the week ending Oct. 29. In two games Kolanos tallied seven points on three goals and four assists as the second-ranked Eagles split two weekend games - a 3-2 loss to # 1 Wisconsin, and a 9-5 win over UMass-Amherst.
Kolanos netted the Eagles' first goal, a power-play score, in the Eagles' loss to Wisconsin on Friday, Oct. 27. Later in the game he assisted on Boston College's other score, a power-play goal by junior forward Ales Dolinar that gave BC a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
Against UMass-Amherst Kolanos scored two goals and added three assists, leading BC to victory in its first conference game of the season. Late in the first period the sophomore scored his first goal, an unassisted score off of a faceoff in front of the Minuteman net. He scored his second goal at the 4:38 mark of the final period to extend the Eagles' lead to 7-5 as BC scored three unanswered goals to put the game away. The five-point performance was the highest scoring output of his career.
Kolanos is currently tied for the conference points lead with six goals and six assists for 12 points through six games.
The Eagles (5-1-0) next host Northeastern on Friday, Nov. 3. Game time is 7 p.m. On Sunday, BC travels to Lowell to face the UMass-Lowell River Hawks at 7 p.m.
