CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Junior forward Matt Murray's shorthanded goal at 6:01 of the third period lifted Wisconsin to a 3-2 victory over Boston College in a matchup of the nation's two top-ranked teams before a sellout crowd of 7,770 at Kelley Rink.
Wisconsin entered the game ranked first in the latest national polls, while Boston College was ranked second in both polls.
All five of the game's goals came in special-teams situations. Murray's goal followed two power-play goals by each team.
Wisconsin (7-0-0) trailed 2-1 entering the final period, before sophomore center Brad Winchester evened the score with a power-play tally just 55 seconds after the intermission.
Boston College (4-1-0) jumped out to a 1-0 lead on sophomore center Krys Kolanos' power-play goal at 5:45 of the first period.
Wisconsin junior Matt Hussey tied the game at 1:22 of the middle period, before BC junior Ales Dolinar gave the host Eagles a 2-1 advantage at 6:26.
Boston College senior goaltender Scott Clemmensen made 17 saves. Wisconsin senior Graham Melanson made 30 stops.
