Eagles Volleyball Swept By Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - The Boston College volleyball team lost to Rutgers tonight, 3-0, in a BIG EAST Conference matchup in New Brunswick, N.J. The Scarlet knights had a pair of double-digit scorers in the kill category, as Kara Carter and Lauren Venarchik had 16 and 12 put-aways, respectively. Sophomore opposite Lauren Schwer led the Eagles in offense with seven kills.
The Eagles were never able to get a foothold against the Scarlet Knights, dropping the first game 15-2. Rutgers held BC to just four points in the second game, and closed out the Eagles 15-8 in the third and final frame. In total, Rutgers out-killed the Eagles 60-36 on the night. They also out-blocked BC 15-4. BC fell to 9-15 overall with the loss, and 2-5 in BIG EAST action. Rutgers improved to 18-6 overall, 5-2 in conference play.
Next up for the Eagles will be Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon in South Orange, N.J. Match time will be 2 p.m.
