CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.- The Men's Tennis team competed in the University of Connecticut Invitational this past weekend. The competition was great preparation for the Eagle's upcoming matches and helped to build the experience level of a very young team. Every Eagle won their first match, with 6 out of 8 winning the first two. The three freshmen, Justin Slattery, Paul Colahan, and Ross Pytko saw action this weekend and all three reached the quarterfinals. Seniors Jason Cowett and Chris Mercurio, and juniors Marc Lucero and Colin Kennedy, each won two matches before being knocked out of the tournament in Storrs, Connecticut. Sophomore Damon Vartabedian won his first match before faltering in the second round. The overall singles record for the weekend was 14-8.
The team of Slattery and Cowett advanced to the semifinals in Flight A doubles, for the best result at the UConn Invitational. The four Eagle's doubles teams finished with an overall record of 6-4 on the weekend.
