Eagles Volleyball Downs Brown 3-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Sophomore outside hitter Lauren Schwer pounded a match-high 26 kills and had only six errors to lead visiting Boston College to a 3-2 victory over Brown at the Pizzitola Center tonight.
The Eagles (6-13 Overall) came out on fire, opening game one with a 7-1 lead. However, the Bears (9-6 Overall) fought back and took the first game in 45 minutes, 15-10. Boston College led for most of the second game but Brown pushed to tie it at 10 apiece, eventually taking a 14-12 lead. The Eagles would not quit, however, and tied the game at 14 before winning game two, 17-15. Game three was all Bears as they never trailed and won, 15-11. However, Boston College took the fourth game 15-4, before winning the deciding game 15-11.
Boston College's junior outside hitter Brooke Shull, who had a double-double with 20 kills and a match-high 18 digs, led the Eagles on defense. Freshman middle blocker Nancy Legan tallied 13 kills and eight blocks, while sophomore opposite Rachel Bach notched 11 kills and nine blocks. Senior setter Kyleen Charlton also recorded a double-double, tallying 65 assists and 10 digs.
Freshman Diane Schneider led four Bears with double-digit kills, notching a career-high 26.
The Eagles will next be in action one week from tonight, Wednesday, October 18, when they travel to Hanover, N.H. to face the Big Green of Dartmouth. The match will be the second time in just over two weeks that the two squads face off. BC took a 3-0 victory over the Big Green on October 3 in their other meeting this season.
