CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College slipped 2-0 to Yale Saturday at Buckingham Browne and Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass. Yale's only two ECAC wins have been at BC's expense. With today's victory, the Bulldogs improved to 4-14-0 overall and 2-13 in the conference. BC dropped to 5-13-1 overall and 1-13-1 in the loop.
Sophomore Sara Wood (Randolph, Mass.) scored the eventual game-winner on a power play opportunity at 12:56 in the first period. Wood received assists from Canadian natives Lauren Gulka (London, Ontario) and Sue Barnes (London, Ontario).
Lisa Meyers (Skokie, Ill.) deposited the insurance goal late in the game (18:31). She high-roofed an uncontested shot above a sprawled Sharon VanTuyl (Portage, Mich.). Meyers was served by Deanna McDevitt (South Boston, Mass.) and Jane Resor (Greenwich, Conn.).
The Bulldogs outshot BC, 24-9. The Eagles squandered four power-play opportunities, including one in the waning moments. Yale's Katie Hirte (Cottage Grove, Minn.) earned nine saves in net. Her BC counterpart, Sharon VanTuyl, who received the brunt of action, collected 22 saves.
