Women's Ice Hockey Earns Weekend Split

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College split its ECAC games this weekend, tying Princeton 2-2 Saturday then falling 1-4 to Yale Sunday. The Eagles dropped to 2-11-1 overall and remain winless in the conference (0-11-1).
BC took a 2-1 lead in the first period against Princeton on the strength of Jen Buckley's (Greenwich, Conn.) team-leading 11th goal of the season (18:09). Lisa Molvar (Lexington, Mass.) scored the Eagles' first goal to knot the game at one at 11:58 in the first. The Eagle snipers received assists from Kristin Campbell (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.), Jane Jorge (Allston, Mass.), Gena Nolin (Chichester, N.H.) and Gen Richardson (Monroe, Conn.). Princeton's Nikola Holmes lit the lamp with the Tigers' second goal at 19:07 in the first period to end the game's scoring. Annamarie Holmes, who posted the Tigers' first score, added an assist on that goal.
Sophomore Sharon VanTuyl (Portage, Mich.) made 37 saves through 65 minutes between the pipes for the Eagles. Her Princeton counterpart, Sarah Ahlquist, had 18 stops in the 2-2 tie. Amber Bobin (Evanston, Ill.) scored BC's lone goal against Yale with a man advantage in the third period (17:51). She was fed by Jorge and Buckley. The Eagles' Christy Nentwig (Chesterfield, Mo.) earned 23 saves in a complete-game effort.
Princeton's Sue Barnes assisted on three of the Tigers' four goals.
BC hosts Middlebury Thursday January 13. Game time is 7 p.m.
