Women's Volleyball Falls To UNH In Four

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Boston College volleyball squad dropped its second consecutive match, falling 3-1 (15-3, 15-13, 11-15, 15-11) to host University of New Hampshire Wednesday in Durham. Both teams' records stand at 2-3 following the match.
The Eagles were led offensively by Kristin Sprinkel (Laguna, Calif./Bishop Luers), who has accumulated 10-plus kills in four of BC's five matches. Sprinkel had 12 kills in 28 attempts against the Wildcats after entering Wednesday's competition with the BIG EAST's second-highest attack percentage (0.433).
BC freshman Lauren Schwer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) continued to impress, registering 11 kills and 12 digs. Co-captains Laura DeLong (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat) and Kyleen Charlton (Tampa, Fla./Academy of the Holy Name) contributed to the Eagle cause both defensively as well as offensively. DeLong executed 10 kills in 24 attempts, and Charlton amassed 39 assists with a team-high 15 digs.
Junior Julia El-Hag (Bedford, N.Y./Fox Lane) gave a season-best 12-dig performance in addition to her eight kills.
After suffering a tough first game loss, the Eagles came back to score 13 points in the second game then went on to win the third, 15-11. UNH stood its ground in the final game, reversing game three's score in its favor.
Boston College co-hosts the New England Invitational with Harvard this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 11-12), starting at 10 a.m. when Saint Peter's College meets the University of Portland in Power Gym at the Conte Forum. BC plays Saint Peter's at 1 p.m.
