Boston College Gets Season's First Victory

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College junior Kristin Sprinkel (Laguna, Calif./Bishop Luers) had 15 kills to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 victory (15-3, 15-1, 15-10) over Wofford College Friday night in the Northeastern University Husky/Asics Invitational at Reggie Lewis Arena.
Sprinkel completed a torrent .700 hitting percentage, making only one error in 20 attack attempts. Last night marked the second consecutive game that Sprinkel has hit kills in the double figures, she also executed 12 in BC's season-opening match Sept. 1 against Oregon in Chestnut Hill.
The Eagles also received accurate hitting from senior co-captain Laura DeLong (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat), who contributed nine kills with only two errors in addition to digging out six balls.
Kyleen Charlton (Tampa, Fla./Academy of the Holy Name) made 33 assists while also stroking seven kills and two service aces. Junior Julia El-Hag (Bedford, NY/Fox Lane) and freshman Lauren Schwer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) each recorded seven kills to contribute to the Eagles' 52-kill performance while Schwer led the team defensively with her eight digs.
Boston College hit .786 as a team during game one en route to a 15-3 victory then continued their momentum into game two, allowing only one point in a 15-1 win.
The Eagles face Virginia Commonwealth (0-1) at 9:00 a.m. Saturday Sept. 4 at Reggie Lewis Arena.
