Men's Golf Places 12th At Dartmouth Invitational

HANOVER, N.H. -- The Boston College men's golf team finished 12th in a field of 16 teams at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club on September 25-26. Yale University shot a 282-283-565 to win the two-day event. Providence College (296-291-587), Central Connecticut (295-299-594), Dartmouth (294-305-599), and the University of Maine (290-309-599) finished among the top five teams at the Invitational. The Eagles shot a 306-312-618 to finish 12th.
Peter Schumacher of Yale birdied the first hole of sudden death with a 10-foot putt to win medalist honors over teammates Ed Brockner and Chris Eckerle. All three were tied with 36 hole scores of 140, two over par, in the two-day event. Schumacher opened with an even par 69 and followed that with a 71.
Rick Tilghman was the top finisher for Boston College, placing seventh with a score of 67-77-144. Rounding out the Boston College competitors were Bob Gregory (47th, 77-80-157), Mike Tegnelia (52nd, 77-81-158), Josh Folkerth (61st, 86-74-160), and Mark Sullivan (75th, 85-85-170).
