CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College junior goalkeeper Chris Hamblin (Bristol, England) was honored as the BIG EAST's men's soccer Goalkeeper of The Week, for the week ending Sept. 12. It marks the first time in his three-year career that he has been recognized by the conference.
Hamblin, who has started all 36 games of his Boston College career, recorded two victories in last week, as the Eagles defeated Siena 3-1 on Sept. 7 and Army 3-0 on Sept. 12. He played all 180 minutes.
Hamblin allowed just one goal on the week, a penalty kick by Siena's David Martella. Otherwise, the junior held both the Saints and Black Knights scoreless. His shutout of Army marked his first shutout of the season and 12th of his career.
Boston College (2-2-0) will use this week to rest before traveling to Rutgers for a 8 p.m. game on Friday, Sept. 17 and taking on Villanova in Philadelphia Sunday afternoon Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
