Schwer And DeLong Named To All-Tournament Team

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College senior co-captain Laura DeLong (Bay Village, Ohio/Magnificat) and freshman Lauren Schwer (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) were named to the New England Invitational All-Tournament team, in a two-day competition held Sept. 11-12 on both the Boston College and Harvard University campuses.
Also receiving tournament honors were Bridget DeChant of the University of Portland and Yvette Lozanski of Saint Peter's College. Linda Jellison and Katherine Hart represented Harvard on the list as Hart also earned the Tournament MVP distinction.
Boston College fell to Saint Peter's in five games, losing 10-15, 15-9, 15-11, 14-16, 7-16 Saturday afternoon (Sept. 11). The Eagles then rebounded to win the next two matches, defeating Harvard 3-2 (15-7, 8-15, 15-4, 8-15, 17-15) Saturday night and Portland 3-1 (15-11, 16-14, 6-15, 15-12) on Sunday (Sept. 12).
The Eagles' DeLong contributed kill totals of 12, 14 and 12 in the tourney, hitting .407 in the Saint Peter's match while also posting a career high 19 digs. DeLong delivered two double-doubles over the weekend, tallying 12 kills and 15 digs versus Portland.
Schwer recorded a collegiate personal best 17 kills and 18 digs against Saint Peter's College then went on to collect 17 more digs against the Crimson. The first-year student also made 10 kills in 29 attempts with no errors against Portland.
BC returns to action Wednesday (Sept. 15), hosting Hartford at 7 p.m.
