Boston College won the top four singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to earn a 6-3 home victory over Boston University. The win avenged the Eagles' 5-4 loss to the Terriers last September.
Sophomore Cynthia Tow (first singles), sophomore Kiren Fernando (third singles) and junior Mercedes del Valle (fourth singles) each won in straight sets, while junior teammate Barbara Privrel earned a hard-fought, three-set victory over BU's Jenni Momii. BC junior captain Kim Arbuckle dropped a tough, three-set decision at fifth singles.
In doubles action, BC's top duo -- Tow and Privrel -- defeated BU's Christina Causway and Chrissie Cerretani, 8-3. Del Valle and Fernando won, 8-6, at second doubles. BC's Arbuckle and Ruta Veitas lost, 8-6, in the final doubles match.
Boston College returns to action on Saturday, April 17 against Syracuse. The match will begin at 11 a.m. at BC's Flynn Complex courts.
