NEW YORK - Becky Gottstein and Alissa Murphy each scored 20 points as No. 22 Boston College beat St. John's 64-60 on Sunday.
Gottstein, who also grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, hit two free throws with 15.6 seconds left to give the Eagles (17-3, 9-3 Big East) a 61-60 lead. Danielle O' Banion added a foul shot and two more by Murphy sealed it with three seconds remaining.
Ebony Dickinson scored 11 of her 20 points for St. John's in a 15-4 run that gave the Red Storm (10-13, 5-7) a one-point lead with 54 seconds to go.
Boston College has won four straight and 11 of its last 13. The Red Storm have dropped six of eight.
Murphy scored six points in a 15-3 spurt that gave the Eagles a 48-40 lead with 10:56 to play. Her two free throws made it 55-45 with 4:43 to go.
The Eagles have won the last seven meetings between the two teams.
