HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Making her first collegiate start, junior guard Shea Ralph scored a career-high 36 points Tuesday to lead No. 4 Connecticut to a 107-77 win over Boston College as the Huskies avenged last month's loss in Boston.
Ralph, a former national freshman of the year, twice tore her anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee and was forced to sit out her sophomore season. She was 4-of-5 from the 3-point line and 12-of-12 from the foul line.
Her first 3-pointer came just 14 seconds into the game. The Eagles countered with baskets by Alissa Murphy and Brianne Stepherson and a Whitney Steele foul shot.
Ralph sank two free throws at 17:26 before Murphy's 3-pointer put the Eagles in front 8-7, their last lead of the game.
Tamika Williams keyed an 11-2 UConn run with a driving layup for an 18-10 UConn lead. The Huskies (21-3 overall, 14-1 Big East) also went on a 13-4 run, fueled by six points from Asjha Jones en route to a 58-44 lead at the break.
UConn led by as many as 36 in the second half.
Murphy and Stepherson paced Boston College with 18 points each. Williams added 16 for UConn.
The Eagles (17-6, 9-6) were coming off two straight losses to ranked teams, Notre Dame and Rutgers, and had dropped out of the Top 25 this week.
The Huskies lead the Boston College series 25-12. UConn lost to the Eagles 78-66 on Jan. 23, snapping a 16-game win streak against the Eagles.
The win was the 12th 100-point game for UConn this season, just three shy of a 1987 record set by Long Beach State in 1987.
