CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.---The Boston College volleyball team played in their final tournament of the Spring Season on Sunday afternoon at Power Gym on the campus of Boston College.
For the first time ever, junior Kristin Sprinkel(Laguna Beach, CA) assumed the role of setter and led the Eagles to its first victory of the day over Wellesley . In the second match, junior Kyleen Charlton(Tampa, FL) resumed setting duties and led the team to a split-set versus Fairfield and then a commanding victory over Northeastern. In the final match of the day versus Harvard, BC lost a close one with Sprinkel setting the lead role again.
"I am pleased with the teams performance. I am most impressed with Kristin Sprinkel, who never set in a match before this tournament; to do as well as she did. I am confident with more repetitions, she will be a legitimate back-up setter for this program",according to head coach Jackie Hadel
The team also received a solid performance from this years most improved player, Amy Chiaverini(Irvine, CA). "Chivvy has a long way to go and she is now aware of what is expected of her in order for her to achieve her potential, blocking is definitely her strength", adds Hadel.
Coach Hadel adds that the teams commitment to the summer workout program is going to be crucial to the kinds of strides she knows her team is capable of making next season.
Boston College will open its season at home on September 1st versus Oregon. Game time is 7 p.m.
