Softball Takes Two from Rhode Island

Chestnut Hill, Mass- Boston College moved two games closer to the five hundred mark with two wins over the University of Rhode Island, in action Tuesday afternoon at Shea field.
In game one each team had six hits, with BC led by sophomore Summer Jarratt(Manhattan Beach, CA) with two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.
Junior Gretchen Thompson (Brea, CA)picked up her team leading fourth win of the season. Thompson pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on six hits including a season-high 11 strikeouts.
In game two,the Eagles(9-11) exploded for 11 runs on 15 hits. Junior Cristin Brown(Playa Del Rey, CA) went a perfect 4-4 at the plate with a run scored. BC scored all the runs they would need in the bottom of the fourth, when two runs came across to give BC an early 2-0 lead.
Boston College blew the game open in the bottom of the sixth when junior Chris Vicari(Totowa, NJ) hit a grand slam, which capped a nine-run inning for the Eagles, giving them the 11-1 victory.
The Eagles will next play on Thursday when they travel across town to play the Harvard Crimson. Game time is 3:00.
