Boston College sophomore Kevin Boyd (Del Mar, Calif.) scored two goals to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 victory over the Pittsburgh in a BIG EAST Conference match played at Natick High School.at Natick High SchoolBC senior Keith McDonald (Holliston, Mass.) scored the games first goal in the 33rd minute when he blasted a shot from 20 yards. It was the captains first goal of the season.
Boyd followed with his first goal of the day four minutes later when he volleyed a pass from senior Chris Lynch (Chagin Falls, Ohio) into the net. Senior Danny Horan (Dublin, Ireland) also assisted on the goal.
Boyd capped the scoring in the 57th minute when he uncorked a shot that careened off the crossbar and into the goal. Sophomore Sjur Gundersen (Grimstad, Norway) notched his third assist of the season.
Sophomore Chris Hamblin (Bristol, England) made five saves to record his third shutout of the season for the Eagles. Pittsburghs Chris Hanlon made three saves in 65 minutes and Mike Norris made two saves in the final 25 minutes.
Boston College improves to 4-5-1 overall, 1-4 in the BIG EAST, while Pittsburgh falls to 4-4-2 on the season, 1-4-1 in BIG EAST play. The Eagles return to action on Tuesday, October 6 at 3 p.m. when they meet Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H.
