Men's Lacrosse Qualifies for ECAC Championships

The Boston College mens lacrosse earned a berth in the 1999 Eastern College Athletic Conferences Lacrosse Championship that will be held the weekend of May 14-15 in Fairfield, Conn.
The fourth-seeded Eagles (5-8) will battle top-seeded Mount St. Marys (10-5) in the semifinal round on Friday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. It marks the fourth time in the past five years that BC has qualified for the tournament.
The Boston College offense is led by junior Dan Hayden and senior Pat McCavanaugh. Hayden leads the team in goals (21), assists (20) and points (41). His 10-point performance-- four goals, six assists -- in the 21-12 win against Holy Cross (April 24) ranked among the nations best single-game efforts. McCavanaugh tallied 31 points - 20 goals, 11 assists - and led the team with 89 shots.
The defense is anchored by senior goaltender Anthony Cirri. Cirri ranks 13th among all Division I goalies with a .616 goals against average. He has made 239 saves in 13 games this season.
In the other semifinal contest, second-seeded St. Josephs will face third-seeded Fairfield at 3 p.m. on May 14. The 1999 ECAC championship game will be played at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 15.
