The Last Meeting: January 9, 1998 Kelley Rink (7,884)BC 4, BU 2 -- Mike Mottau scored one goal and added two assists to lead BC to a 4-2 come-from-behind win over top-ranked Boston University before a sold-out crowd. BC fell behind 2-0 after the first period, but responded with two second-period goals. Mottau's goal evened the score at 14:16 of the middle stanza. Blake Bellefeuille gave BC a one-goal advantage at 17:46 of the third period and Marty Reasoner added an empty-net goal to end the games scoring. Scott Clemmensen made 19 saves for the Eagles.

Yes Masters ... Senior center Chris Masters has scored at least one point in six of the first seven games (4-4-8) ... Masters scored the gamewinner in a 3-2 victory over St. Lawrence in the championship game of the Ice Breaker Cup on Oct. 10 ... Masters netted two third-period goals against Notre Dame on Nov. 6 to lead an Eagle comeback that resulted in a 5-5 tie ... Masters is serving as an assistant captain.
Our Mottau is ... Junior defenseman and Hobey Baker Award candidate Mike Mottau leads the team with 10 assists. He ranks second on the team with 11 points ... Mottau scored his first goal of the 1998-99 season in the team's last game-- a 6-3 win over Northeastern ... Seven of his 10 assists have come on the power play ... Mottau tallied an assist on each of the first four goals in a 6-4 victory over UMass-Lowell on Oct. 31 ... Mottau assisted on two goals in the Ice Breaker championship game against St. Lawrence, including Chris Masters' game-winning goal ... The Mighty Gionta ... Sophomore forward Brian Gionta leads the team in points (13) and is second in goals (6) ... He tallied one goal and added three assists in a 6-3 win over Northeastern on Nov. 14. It was his fourth collegiate game with four or more points ... Gionta notched two goals and one assist in a 6-4 victory at UMass-Lowell on Oct. 31 ... Gionta notched his third career hat trick in the season-opening 4-3 double-overtime victory over Ohio State. Giontas gamewinner came 1:17 into the second overtime.
For Whom the Bellefeuille Tolls ... Junior forward Blake Bellefeuille led the Eagles with two goals and three assits in a home-and-home series with Northeastern on Nov. 13 and Nov. 14 ... Bellefeuille scored the game-winning goal, on the power play, in a 7-3 victory over UMass-Lowell in BCs HOCKEY EAST opener (Oct. 30).
Stonewall Clemmensen ... Sophomore netminder Scott Clemmensen has played every second for BC this winter ... Clemmensen won both games of the Ice Breaker Cup in Minneapolis, Minn. He made a season-high 31 saves against Ohio State in the tournaments opening round on Oct. 9 ... Clemmensen went 1-1 against Boston University last winter, averaging 17.5 saves per game ... Last year, Clemmensen set a BC single-season record with 24 wins.
The Crown Giuls ... Freshman forward Jeff Giuliano has seven assists in seven games ... He recorded two assists in his collegiate debut against Ohio State.
The Coach ... Jerry York is in his fifth season at Boston College. He has a 75-68-15 (.522) record at the Heights ... York currently is tied for seventh on the NCAA all-time winningest coaches list with 542 victories (Former Army coach, Jack Riley). He is 13 victories behind former Michigan Tech coach John MacInnes who holds sixth place ... Before coming to BC, York served as the head coach at Clarkson and Bowling Green, winning the national title at BGSU (1983-84).

* BC fans set a Kelley Rink record during the 1989-90 season as 118,694 fans attended 23 hockey games, an average of 5,160 per game. This season, Boston College is averaging 6,547 after three games in Kelley Rink.
* When Mike Mottau notched four assists against UMass-Lowell on Oct. 31, it marked the first time an Eagle had achieved that feat since Marty Reasoner recorded four assists against the River Hawks on Feb. 28, 1998.
* The point distribution between classes is relatively even after seven games. The junior class leads in every category.
