Men's Hockey Falls to New Hampshire, 6-1

DURHAM, N.H.. - New Hampshire sophomore goaltender Ty Conklin made 22 saves to lead the Wildcats to a 6-1 HOCKEY EAST win over Boston College in front of a sold-out crowd of 6,110 at Whittemore Arena.
New Hampshires freshman forward Darren Haydar tallied two goals and one assist, while senior captain Jason Krog and sophomore Matt Swain each notched one goal and one assist for the home team.
Boston College began the scoring when junior Jeff Farkas tallied his team-leading 12th goal. Farkas blasted a shot over Conklins right shoulder to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Brian Gionta extended his point streak to 10 games with an assist and junior assistant captain Mike Mottau also added an assist.
New Hampshire would answer with six consecutive goals. The Wildcats netted the equalizer when junior Mike Souza beat BC goaltender Scott Clemmensen with less than a minute remaining in the first period. Swain tallied UNHs second goal, and eventual gamewinner, just nine seconds later at 19:18 of the opening stanza.
Sophomore defenseman Eric Lind tallied the first of three Wildcat goals in the second period at 13:09. Krog and Haydar followed with with goals at the 14:33 and 18:00 mark respectively.
Senior goaltender Mike Correia replaced Clemmensen for the Eagles at the 14:33 mark of the middle stanza.
Haydar capped the games scoring with his second goal of the night, 10th of the season, at the 13:24 mark of the third period.
Clemmensen made 12 saves in his 34 minutes of work and Correia made 7 saves for the Eagles. Conklin recorded his fifth win of the season for UNH.
With the loss, Boston College falls to 7-4-1 overall, 4-3 in HOCKEY EAST. With the win, New Hampshire improves to 9-2-1 overall, 5-1-1 in HOCKEY EAST action. The two teams complete the weekend series on Saturday, December 5 in Conte Forum. Game time will be 7 p.m.
