AMHERST, Mass. - Boston College junior Jeff Farkas and senior Chris Masters each tallied one goal and one assist to lead the Eagles in a 3-1 win over UMass-Amherst at the Mullins Center in Amherst, Mass.
The Eagles (16-8-2, 11-5-0 HOCKEY EAST) struck first when Masters powered a shot over the shoulder of UMass-Amherst goaltender Markus Helanen. Farkas and senior Brendan Buckley assisted on the goal. The Minutemen (6-16-2, 3-11-2 HOCKEY EAST) tied the game when senior captain Dean Stork tallied a goal with under three minutes to play in the opening period.
Sophomore Bobby Allen put BC back on top with his power-play tally with 54 seconds remaining in the second period. Farkas tallied his 21st goal of the season and increased BCs lead to two goals at 3:37 of the third period. Freshman Ales Dolinar tallied an assist on each of the final two goals.
BC sophomore goaltender Scott Clemmensen made 19 saves. Helanen made 32 saves for the Minutemen.
The Eagles will return to action when they face Boston University in the first round of the 47th annual Beanpot on Monday, February 1. Game time is 9 p.m. in the FleetCenter.
