BOSTON - Junior forward Blake Bellefeuille scored two goals and added one assist to lead Boston College to a 6-3 HOCKEY EAST win over host Northeastern before 4,154 fans at Matthews Arena.
Sophomore Brian Gionta recorded one goal and three assists for the Eagles, while senior Chris Masters rounded out BC's list of multiple-point scorers with one goal and one assist.
Northeastern opened the scoring with a 5-on-3 goal at 8:58 of the first period. BC junior Mike Mottau evened the score with a power-play tally at 12:36, and classmate Jeff Farkas gave the Eagles their first lead with his ninth goal of the season - at 17:13.
The host Huskies tied the game at 4:36 of the middle period, before BC netted the game's next four goals to take control. Bellefeuille's power-play goal at 16:36 snapped the tie, and Gionta's score with five seconds remaining in the second period gave the Eagles a 4-2 advantage.
In the third, Bellefeuille extended the Eagles' advantage at 5:36, before Masters capped the team's scoring effort at 8:20. Northeastern tallied a man-advantage goal at 14:25 to account for the game's final score.
Boston College (5-1-1, 3-1-0 HOCKEY EAST) returns to action on Friday, November 20 against Boston University. Game time is 7 p.m. in Kelley Rink.
BC Notes: Boston College outshot Northestern, 29-20. The Eagles now have a perfect 5-0-0 mark when outshooting their foes ... Bellefeuille earned the game's "First Star" honor, while Gionta gained the "Second Star" nod.
