Men's Hockey Defeats Northeastern, 5-1

CHESTNUT HILL - Sophomore forward Mike Lephart netted two goals and junior forward Jeff Farkas added three assists to lead Boston College to a 5-1 HOCKEY EAST victory over Northeastern before a crowd of 4,834 in BC's Kelley Rink.
Leading 2-1 after two periods, Boston College (13-7-2, 8-4-0 HE) doubled its lead at 6:33 of the final period on sophomore defenseman Rob Scuderi's goal. Lephart, who earlier gave BC a 2-0 lead, extended BC's margin to 4-1 with his second goal of the night - at 15:02. Less than 50 seconds later, BC junior forward Kevin Caulfield finished the scoring with his fourth goal of the season.
BC led 2-0 after one period, on goals by sophomore defenseman Bobby Allen and Lephart. Northeastern sophomore forward Brian Cummings scored his team's lone goal - on the power play - at 10:26 of the middle period.
Boston College sophomore Scott Clemmensen finished with 21 saves, while Northeastern freshman Jason Braun made 30 stops.
Boston College returns to action on Friday, January 22 against Providence. Game time is 7 p.m. in BC's Kelley Rink.
