Men's Hockey Defeats Merrimack, 4-1

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Sophomore forward Blake Bellefeuille scored two goals to lead host Boston College to a 4-1 HOCKEY EAST win over Merrimack at Kelley Rink. The win completed BC's two-game weekend sweep of the Warriors and kept the Eagles with a share of the league's top spot.
Boston College led 2-0 after one period, and used two power-play goals in the middle period to secure the victory. After the Eagles gained a 4-0 advantage, Merrimack junior Kris Porter scored the Warriors' lone goal at 13:59 of the second period.
Junior Andy Powers opened the scoring for the Eagles at 7:37 of the first period, and Bellefeuille doubled the margin with a 4-on-4 tally at 15:43.
Bellefeuille scored his second goal -- a power-play tally -- at 8:40 of the second period, and sophomore Jeff Farkas scored a man-up goal at 12:49.
Boston College outshot Merrimack, 47-20. Merrimack sophomore Cris Classen finished with 43 saves, while BC freshman netminder Scott Clemmensen made 19 stops.
