BOSTON - Boston College senior Andy Powers and junior Blake Bellefeuille both tallied one goal and one assist to lead the Eagles in a 3-2 win over Boston University before a sold-out crowd of 3,806 fans at Walter Brown Arena.
Sophomore Brian Gionta notched two assists, and junior Tony Hutchins netted one goal for the Eagles (20-11-4, 14-7-2 HOCKEY EAST).
After a scoreless first period, Hutchins gave BC a 1-0 lead when he snuck the puck off the left skate of BU goaltender Michel Larocque. Hutchins goal - assisted by senior Chris Masters and junior Kevin Caulfield - came 41 seconds into the middle stanza.
The Terriers (13-18-3, 8-13-3 HOCKEY EAST) tied the score at 4:58 of the second period with a goal by Chris Heron. The teams remained tied, 1-1, after 40 minutes of play.
Bellefeuille gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead when he one-timed a pass from Powers past Larocque. Bellefeuille's tally came with less than four minutes remaining in the third period. Powers netted what proved to be the decisive goal at 18:12 when he fired the puck under the BU goaltender.
BU scored their second goal with one second remaining the final frame. BC outshot the Terriers, 40-29.
The Eagles sophomore Scott Clemmensen made 27 saves - including 15 in the third period -- to earn his 20th win of the season. Larocque finished with 37 saves.
Boston College hosts Merrimack in its regular-season finale on Saturday, March 6. Game time is 7 p.m. in Kelley Rink.
