CHESTNUT HILL - Junior forward Rico Pagel's goal at 12:43 of the third period capped a Minnesota comeback as the Golden Gophers earned a 3-3 overtime tie with Boston College before a crowd of 3,234 at BC's Kelley Rink.
After Boston College sophomore forward Mike Lephart gave BC a 3-1 lead at 5:49 of the final period, Minnesota began its rally. Senior forward Mike Anderson pulled the Golden Gophers to within one goal at 9:03, netting his third tally of the season. Pagel recorded the equalizer just more than three minutes later.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the final minutes, but both goaltenders - BC sophomore Scott Clemmensen and Minnesota freshman Adam Hauser - met the challenges. Clemmensen finished with a season-high 33 saves. Hauser made 31 stops.
Boston College (11-5-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one period on goals by junior Tony Hutchins and sophomore Jeff Farkas. Farkas' goal was his 20th of the season, tops among the nation's Division I players.
Minnesota (7-10-3) scored the only goal of the second period. Senior Wyatt Smith netted his 11th goal of the season at 9:06. Junior Nate Miller and sophomore Aaron Miskovich assisted.
