POTSDAM, N.Y. - Defenseman Philippe Roy's power-play goal at 11:41 of the third period capped a Clarkson comeback as the host Golden Knights earned a 2-1 win over Boston College in a non-league game at Cheel Arena.
The loss dropped Boston College's record to 7-3-1 and gave the Eagles a split of their two-game road trip against ECAC foes.
Boston College took a 1-0 lead at 12:50 of the middle period when junior forward Blake Bellefeuille scored a 5-on-3 goal. Sophomore Brian Gionta won a face-off in the offensive zone, and sophomore Bobby Allen fed the puck to Bellefeuille in the left circle. The junior slapped a one-timer past Clarkson netminder Shawn Grant.
In the final period, Clarkson center Erik Cole evened the score at 7:08, redirecting a teammate's shot past BC goaltender Scott Clemmensen, a former junior teammate of Cole's.
Less than five minutes later, the Golden Knights capitalized on a power-play opportunity to net the decisive goal. Roy's shot from the left point hit a BC skate and beat Clemmensen for the score.
The Eagles applied pressure and maintained a territorial advantage in the game's final minutes, but could not notch the tying goal.
Clemmensen finished with 30 saves, including 14 in the first period. CU's Grant made 22 stops to earn the victory.
The Eagles finished were 1-of-4 on the power play, while Clarkson finished 1-of-6 with a man advantage.
